The exhibition was held in the Rare Books Exhibition space, Sir Louis Matheson Library, Monash University from 21 February - 8 April 1994. This exhibition features significant items acquired since the previous “Recent Acquisitions” display in December 1990 – March 1991. As in that exhibition, the emphasis here is on literature, history and art from Australia, Britain and the Continent. The cases devoted to the Classics, travel accounts, cookery, and “Yellowbacks” for example, show some of the items acquired to add to these strengths. There are of course, many other significant parts of the collection unrepresented, for example, a large collection of early temperance material was acquired in 1992 and will be shown at a future date; our collection of Science Fiction periodicals from the 1920s, ‘30s and 40s will also be part of a special exhibition. The Monash University Rare Book Collection continues to be an important resource for research and teaching within the University, and is becoming increasingly will-known among the wider scholarly community.
